#66 - Rambo: First blood

The Two rules of Rambo according to the Wreckfast Club; 1. Things escalate UNBELIEVABLY quickly and 2. 99% of the characters responses to an action are hugely disproportionate to the preceding action

That's right, it's the tale of the original murder hobo - a man who is (somewhat) lawfully asked to move on but sees that as his opportunity to wage a one man war on small town policeman doing their job and volunteer national guard. Men get de-dicked, a helicopter gets taken down with a rock, there's what feels like a two hour scene of sly in a cave and somehow, this is the most nuanced portrayal of the character to date. A ground breaking film where no-one is in the right, get ready for the Wreckfast Club presents: Rambo: First blood

Continuing mummy season with the Mummy 2; The mummy returns! You aren't going to believe what happens in this film! Unless you've seen the first one, in which case, it's pretty much the exact same thing only now with an annoying little robot boy and some weirdly retconned bits and a bad PS1 graphics The Rock. People get snaked, there's pygmy warriors, there's a really, really long couple of train scenes but most important of all, there's a shit load more mummy! Get ready to fight the forces of evil alongside Rick 'hasn't he got beautiful hair?' O'connell as this week the Wreckfast Club presents: The Mummy Returns!

#64 - The Mummy

A 90s schlock horror classic that firmly cemented Brendan Frasers place forever in our hearts. All about a 'Giza' called Imhotep and how his love of touching painted ladies gets him in a 'pharoh'-mount of trouble. He 'sphinx' he's got away with it too but he's just in 'de-Nile'. No but on a serious note, he does get buried alive in a tomb full of flesh eating bugs. It's pretty bad... Then years later, he comes back and wants to find his Mrs but luckily Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are there to put a stop to the pursuit of true love with quips, lovely hair and a shit load of guns. It's action, it's horror, it's comedy - it's all things to all people as this week the Wreckfast Club presents: The Mummy!

#63 - Con Air

"Welcome to sky prison bitches!" That's the first line of actual dialogue from today's film and at no point does it become any less aggressive or full on. Charged with being too buff to function in normal society, Nic Cage is forced to grow his hair out in prison before being shoved on a plane with some of the worst, criminal scum imaginable - all of whom have delightfully misleading monikers. There's guys being lit on fire, there's guns when there was meant to be no guns, there's bodies getting dropped from the sky, but most of all, there's Nic Cages enormous pythons, distracting us from his bad accent. Get ready for the greatest worst film of all time as this week, the Wreckfast Club (finally) presents: Con Air!
