Washed up. Past the prime. No longer relevant. Just some of the ways in which people have described the Wreckfast Club, but also, a great description of Wolverine as he is in today's film. That's right! No longer the hyper virile, aggressive and hirsute young man we know and love, this wolverine is slower and grittier and is losing the will to carry on. His spandex loving friends are all gone (and the X-men are nowhere to be found either - heyyy-o) and he's living out his days as a glorified nanny to the former most powerful mutant on the planet while trying to side hustle as an uber limo driver. Tale as old as time. This film proves that superhero films can explore the heart of a character without being wanky and boring, and made a tired and slightly hungover Dave pretty goddamn emotional. So take a seat and get ready for a superhero/western mash-up as the Wreckfast Club presents: Logan

Prepare for big musical numbers, beautiful cinematography and toxic relationships as this week we dive into a bombastic love letter to cinema. This film will have you questioning the very nature of relationships because if these two beautiful people can't make it work, who the hell can? There's tap dancing, a parkour guy, John Legend is in it for a bit - there's Jazz and J. Jonah Jameson turns up - really anything to distract from the thin plot. In much the same way that jazz music uses recurring themes and refrains as anchor points to ground the more experimental flights of fancy, developing and adapting the music before returning to the familiar, so too do the characters of Seb and Mia constantly return to one another before dramatically pulling away. Each time they return, they're recognisably the same but also changed and developed somehow - or they're just terrible, self involved people preventing one another from achieving their dreams - you decide! Podcast promoter extraordinaire, Mark Etting has convinced us to jump on to the reaction train so we started with the Mortal Kombat trailer, only about a month after it came out. We recorded this just after recording our Demolition Man episode and if you've listened to that, you probably have some indication of how much of a shambles this will be.
