#96 - Miss Congeniality

Today it's a film that spends an hour and a half of its almost 2 hour run-time trying to convince you what a disgusting, train-wreck of a human being Sandra Bullock is, only to reveal in the big twist at the end that no, she is in fact, Sandra Bullock. It feels like the brief for this film was, dad's want to see Sandra in a bathing suit, let's write a film around that and so the result was a weird comedy throwback that seems to want to have an empowering message but is also quite sexist (as well as some other problems). But hey, it came out 22 years ago, and as we all know, that was a different time. So sit back, enjoy some slapstick silliness and let the Wreckfast Club tell you all about 'Miss Congeniality'

#95 - Law Abiding Citizen

Today's drunken tale is all about one man's quest for justice and how far he'll go for revenge. Turns out, way too far is the answer, as he hatches an insanely elaborate plan over the course of 10 years that sees him dig a network of underground tunnels, assemble and learn to operate a robot and quite literally bone his cell mate to death in prison. It's a film that doesn't take its foot of the gas for a second, even as it's hurtling through a brick wall whilst on fire. This week, the Wreckfast Club presents: Law Abiding Citizen

After a near alien abduction, small town family man Roy becomes so obsessed with aliens that he starts throwing bricks through the window of his own house, digging through mash potatoes with his bare hands and waking his young children up at 4am to drive them miles away to look at nothing. Eventually, his weird behaviour drives his wife and kids away, but that's okay, because he then gets with a woman he met 10 minutes ago and then proceeds to get in a spaceship, leaving his wife and children behind forever with no explanation. And that's the film... Hear us drunkenly retell this beloved classic in today's episode as the Wreckfast Club presents; "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

#91 - On her majesty’s secret service

It's one of the most divisive Bond films in the franchise but still features all the classic Bond tropes you could hope for. Blofield is back and he's now living in a ski-resort/wellness retreat where he exclusively hypnotises young, attractive women to carry out his bidding - so far, so problematic. Bond has to sleep his way through Blofield harem to get to the man himself but first he has to disguise himself so Blofeld won't recognise him - thankfully a kilt and a MORE British accent should do the job. There's s ski chases, cars drive on sand, there's little-to-no plot throughout and then Bond gets married! Which I can only assume goes well... Get ready to hear the Wreckfast Club (finally!!!) dive in to the crazy world of the international man of mystery as this week, we present, James Bond: On her majesty's secret service
